Lene Kielsen Holm

January 11th, 2021

We are deeply saddened to learn that REXSAC researcher Lene Kielsen Holm has passed away.

Lene Kielsen Holm had a leading role in the REXSAC team in Greenland. She was working at the Greenland Institute for Natural Resources in Nuuk and was a project leader for a research group on Climate and Society at the Greenland Climate Research Centre. Lene Kielsen Holm was also active in the Inuit Circumpolar Council. She focused her research on impacts of climate change for local people in Greenland, but also in Arctic Canada and Alaska.

Lene Kielsen Holm played an active role in REXSAC, contributing to the program wide meetings of our Center of Excellence and to our research. Her colleagues in REXSAC will remember her outstanding contribution to our field work campaign in South-Western Greenland in August 2019, together with her brother Erik Kielsen, not only conducting excellent research but also opening doors for our group and sharing her vast knowledge about the communities where we worked.

We will remember Lene Kielsen Holm as an excellent scholar and a dear colleague and friend. We send our deepest condolences to her family.
