Workshop: Environmental assessments from a reindeer husbandry perspective

The workshop is arranged with the objective to receive concrete contributions to how the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s guidance can be designed. The guidance will respond to the growing demand from authorities, operators and consultants for new working methods and routines to increase the quality and legitimacy of environmental assessments.

The program consists of both facilitated group discussions and speakers from the Swedish Sami Association, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, Luleå University of Technology and the Finnish Ministry of Environment, among others.

The workshop is organized by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the research institutions Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the Swedish Agricultural University (SLU), through the research project “Contested landscapes: navigating competing claims and cumulative impacts in Northern Sweden (CO-LAND) funded by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and the research project “Indigenous peoples’ rights and the global Natural Resources Extraction: Mining in Sápmi ”, financed by Formas.
