University of Oulu

The University of Oulu, established in 1958, is one of the largest higher education institutions in Finland. At the university we use our full potential to contribute to solving some of the greatest global challenges, including sustainable resource use, human wellbeing, and harnessing environmental risks. The ten faculties and specialized research units of the university create the foundation for multidisciplinary research and training of experts. The University has a strong emphasis on Arctic research.

In the Nordic Centre of Excellence ‘Resource Extraction and Sustainable Arctic Communities’ (REXSAC) key partners are research units of cultural anthropology, archaeology, history, history of science and ideas and geography.
