Nordforsk Annual Meeting, Reykjavik, Iceland

May 27th, 2019

Community engagement and interdisciplinarity were major themes when REXSAC and the other three Nordic Centres of Excellence met in Reykjavik, Iceland, 20-21 May for the annual meeting of Nordforsk’s program Responsible Development of the Arctic: Opportunities and Challenges – Pathways to Action.

Ninis Rosqvist highlighted REXSAC’s engagement with Swedish Saami communities as partners in research and Dag Avango described some of REXSAC’s strategies for interdisciplinary collaboration, such as cornerstone articles and multidisciplinary composition of work packages.

REXSAC’s presentation for the Scientific Advisory Board focused on our work on assessing cumulative impacts on landscapes and the need to analyze such development into a context of processes occurring at a range of scales – from the local to the global – in a social-ecological-technological systems perspective. The REXSAC team in Reykjavik included Sverker Sörlin, Ninis Rosqvist, Dag Avango, Annika E Nilsson, Chris Fohringer and Jean-Sébastien Boutet.
